UPPER DIR: The International Anti-Corruption Day was observed across the district of Dir Upper as walks and seminars have been organized in this connection in Dir and Shaheed Benazir Bhatto University (SBBU) in Sheringal.
In Dir, the day was observed by organizing a seminar in district assembly hall which was addressed by District Nazim of Dir Upper Sahibzada Faseehullah, tehsil nazim of Dir, Mir Makhzan Din and others. DSP, Zahid Khan, Assistant Commissioner, Dir, Asif Ali, TMO, Badshah Zada, District Education Officer, Mueen-u- Din, representatives of various departments, civil society activists, NGOs representatives were also present in the seminar.
The speakers were of the view that whole nation was involved in corruption as it was main and big hurdle in the way of progress of the country. Due to this reason Pakistan could not progress and prosper like other countries in the world.
They said that the ulcer of corruption had destroyed the immediate basis of the country.
The district nazim said that corruption has plagued the entire system of country and everyone is involved in the corruption. Employees were doing corruption in their duties while students were wasting their precious time in idle activities rather than learning and seeking knowledge for betterment and materialize hopes and dreams of their parents.
The district nazim said that corruption was main hurdle in the way of progress and development of the country. “We have to eliminate corruption from Pakistan and Dir Upper for the sack of the nation and coming generations”, Faseehullah said.
Meanwhile, the SBBU administration organized an awareness walk in the SBBU in Sheringal. Vice Chancellor, Dr Khan Bahadar Marwat, faculty members, administration staff, students and people participated into the walk. On that occasion, the varsity’ administration announced to observe ‘anti-corruption’ week.
The week would be continued till December 11 during which awareness walks and seminars would be organized and special lectures and speeches would be delivered by renowned scholars and intellectuals to create awareness among people, employees and even in politicians and students against corruption, said director societies, SBBU Prof Bakht Zada Danish.
The director society gave his special massage on that occasion and said the corruption would be eliminated very soon from country if whole nation remains determined to its responsibilities in their lives, made sure accurate use of those responsibilities and performed their duties with honest.
Separately, the Anti-Corruption Day was also observed in Tribal area of Mohmand Agency. The Political Administration of Mohmand Agency has set up a toll-Free phone numbers for complaints of any sort of corruption so that to eliminate corruption from the local administration.
