Seven major generals promoted; two corps commanders replaced

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has promoted seven major generals to the rank of lieutenant generals, including Director General Rangers Sindh and Inspector General FC Balochistan.

New responsibilities will be given to the promote army officers while new DG Rangers Sindh will also be appointed soon, security sources told Daily Times.

On the other hand, an ISPR spokesman said that seven major generals have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Generals. Army officers who have been given promotions are commandment Pakistan military academy Kakul Major General Nadeem Raza, DG welfare and rehabilitation at GHQ major general Humayun Aziz, Major General Naeem Ashraf, presently posted at National Defense University, DG Frontier Works Organization Major General Muhammad Afzal, IG FC Balochistan Major General Sher Afghun, DG Personal Services and Provost Marshal Major General Qazi Ikram and DG Rangers Sindh Major General Bilal Akbar.

Sources said that important appointments and postings will take place soon on key positions that are vacant due to the appointments of the army chief and chairman joint chiefs of staff committee by the prime minister, including chief of general staff and IG training and evaluation. After the promotion of seven major generals, the new postings will also take place and the army chief would appoint new DG Rangers Sindh, new IG FC Balochistan and new DG FWO as well before leaving for Umrah to Saudi Arabia, sources disclosed.

Sources said that corp commanders of different corps will also be changed and they will get new responsibilities. General Qamar Javed Bajwa has appointed lieutenant General Nadeem Raza as corp commander Rawalpindi (Comd 10 Corps), while present corp commander Rawalpindi Lieutenant General Zafar Iqbal has now been posted as DG Joint staff at joint staff headquarters JSHQ.

Sources said that Corp Commander Multan Lieutenant General Ishfaq Nadeem and Corp Commander Bahawalpur Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal Ramday opted for retirement before time, since both were superseded during the appointment of the new army chief.

Major General Bilal Akbar is currently serving as Director General Rangers in Sindh. Major General Nadeem Raza is presently the commandant of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul. Major General Humayun Aziz is DG W&R at GHQ while Major General Naeem Ashraf is presently posted at National Defense University.
