Police arrest five in stage actress murder case

LAHORE: City police Friday arrested five men, including the prime accused, Rana Muzammil, allegedly involved in stage actress murder case.

During a media briefing at the Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh, police presented all arrested accused in front of media persons. A number of showbiz personalities were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Captain (r) Amin Wains said that the prime accused had developed illicit relations with the stage actress, Qismat Baig, for the last few years and had provided her a house, a car and other valuables. Later, Qismat Baig and the prime accused parted their ways, while the actress shifted to Lahore along with her two children.

According to details, police obtained data of mobiles phone of Qismat Baig and Rana Muzammil, which led to the arrest of the accused.

Sources said that Rana Muzammil had invested a huge amount on Qismat Baig but the deceased developed relations with another man in Lahore and left Rana Muzammil. Police said that the accused was trying to resettle relationship with the stage actress but failed to do so.

Separately, police were still unable to arrest the culprits involved in killing of a college professor.
