Panama case must be decided: Shujaat

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday said whether it is bench, chair or court the Panama case has to be decided.

He was talking to reporters after cutting Christmas cake along with Christian leaders and bishops at the Muslim League House on Saturday.

“During the chief ministership in Punjab, by returning Christian educational institutions, giving them representation in the assemblies, special quota in jobs, setting up separate ministry and giving equal development funds Ch Pervaiz Elahi had not showed any “ehsaan” but we had done what was our duty and if we got opportunity next time will still do much more than this,” Shujaat said, adding, “I have never used word minority. We all are Pakistanis and should be proud of it.”

Bishop Yaqoob Paul and Bishop Sadiq announced their support for the PML.

To a question, Shujaat said Pakistan is passing through a very critical period and is confronted with many challenges, be it any government by doing whatever it desired, putting anyone in or out, showering favour or pulling down cannot overcome this critical situation without trust and endorsement of the people. He said, “Our party has always done positive opposition, whether it is PTI or People Party whosoever comes out for the country we will stand by them.” To another question, he said those who celebrate anti-corruption day themselves do more corruption than others.

The PML president congratulated the Pakistan Christian Party for affiliating itself with the PML and said that in this way foundation of new era has been laid. He said during Pervaiz Elahi had done revolutionary work for Christians whereas Senator Kamil Agha and other lawmakers had always raised their voice for them. The ceremony was atternded by Senator Kamil Agha, Ajmal Wazir, Shehzad Elahi, Mian Munir, Bishop Yaqoob Paul, Chaudhry Riasat, Pervaiz Michael, Liaquat Jan and Sajid Bhatti.
