QUETTA: Quetta valley and its surrounding areas received the first winter rain of the season on Saturday, ending a long dry spell. The meteorological office forecast that the rain would continue for the next 48 hours in Quetta and some other places, reducing the difficulties in the area. The first winter spell had dropped the temperature in the region. In addition, land sliding had occurred at Kojak Top, which disrupted the flow of traffic. Quetta was also facing an acute shortage of gas, which added to the misery of the biting cold.
