LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Captain (r) Muhammad Amin Wains settled at least 26 land-grabbing and other disputes involving overseas Pakistanis in a meeting at his office on Sunday.
Punjab Overseas Pakistani Commission Vice Chairman Khalid Shaheen Butt, Vice Chairperson Overseas Pakistani Commission Punjab also observed the whole procedure and appreciated the efforts of police and other departments to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis.
An overseas Pakistani, Uzama Qaiser, submitted an application stating that she submitted had booked plot against Rs 4.9 million in Khayaban Amin in 2011 but the administration had not given her the plot nor returned her money.
District Overseas Pakistani Commission (DOPC) heard both the parties and it was decided that the administration of Kahyaban Amin would construct a new house within eight months for the complainant.
In another case, Liaqat Ali, an overseas Pakistani, said he had rented out his house in Attari, and when tenants were asked to pay the rent they misbehaved with the owner and refused to pay the rent. The committee after hearing both the parties gave time to renter to resolve the issue amicably. The renter also agreed to vacate the house of Liaqat Ali within next four months.
Another overseas Pakistani, Faisal Hussain, said he had rented out his house situated in Peco Colony Multan Road, but the renter was not paying the rent. The DOPC heard both the parties after which the renter agreed to vacate the house within next three days.
All the complainants thanked the CCPO for giving possession of their house and also appreciated the role of Overseas Pakistanis Commission.
Speaking on the occasion, the CCPO said that on the directives of the Punjab CHIEF minister, grievances of overseas Pakistanis were being redressed on priority. He asked overseas Pakistanis to contact Overseas Pakistanis Commission for early solution of their issues.
