ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said that lawmakers Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir were responsible for the North Waziristan blast in which four Army personnel were martyred.

“This was a mindset which at that time was trying to rescue terrorists. They formed a gang and attacked our armed forces and tried to free terrorists,” she said, speaking to a private source on Friday following the improvised explosive device (IED) blast in which four Pakistan Army personnel were martyred and four others injured.

“If at the time we had been successful in reaching the terrorists and if those terrorists had not been saved, the unfortunate incident would not have taken place,” she added.

Criticising the opposition, Dr. Awan said, “Where are the opposition and their friends? What answer will they give now? Today, the nation’s heroes were targeted in the attack, explosive material was planted in vehicles. Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir are behind this with their Afghan agenda.”

“The way Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar are playing into the opposition’s hands, today’s incident is an eyeopener for those opposition parties who speak about a production order for terrorists and demanded they be brought to the National Assembly,” Dr. Awan added.

She continued, “Mohsin Dawar, Ali Wazir and their team are responsible for Friday’s attack. If they had not halted the operation at the time and had not weakened the demand of the state by attacking the check post, then this would not have happened.”

Dr. Awan further urged the opposition to come to their senses and not bring in politics when it comes to the interests of the state.
