PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar today.
Earlier on his arrival, COAS was received by Corps Commander 11 Corps lieutenant General Hidayat ur Rehman. COAS was given a detailed briefing regarding the current security situation in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
COAS praised the performance of the counter terrorism forces deployed in the region and said that the focus must remain on complete eradication of militancy from the region. COAS gave complete authority to the deployed forces to combat and destroy the networks of terrorists and their facilitators.
COAS also reviewed the performance of army units specially deployed to create social and economic reforms for the tribals so they can equally contribute towards the development and prosperity of the entire region. COAS particularly stressed on the importance of a dignified return of all people who have been displaced due to the on-going military operation.
