PARACHINAR: The local leadership of all the political parties and tribal elders of Kurram Agency on Tuesday urged the government to abolish the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and merged the tribal area with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at a press conference, Member National Assembly (MNA) Sajid Hussain Turi along with the local leaders of all the political parties and tribal elders here, asked the government to implement the proposed Fata Reforms to make an end to the sufferings of the tribespeople.

He said that the parliamentarians from Fata and tribespeople would launch a protest campaign if they were not given their rights.

President of Fata Political Alliance Abdul Karim Abid, Hafizullah of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Abid Hussain of the Awami National Party and others were present. Noted among the tribal elders were present included Awun Khan, Hamid Hussain and others.

They termed the centuries-old FCR a black law and urged for its repeal and merging the tribal areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

They rejected the idea of referendum over the future status of Fata, arguing the tribespeople had announced their decision and it was in favour of merger. The tribal elders said that that time has come to abolish the British-era laws and regulations and give the tribespeople of their rights by enforcing the reforms proposed by the Fata Reforms Committee.
