Domestic violence

Author: Daily Times

Sir: It is estimated that between 20 and 30 percent of Pakistani women are suffered from various forms of abuse and estimated 5000 women are killed each year owing to domestic violence with numerous others maimed and disabled. Women undergo several attacks ranging from physical to mental and sexual abuse from their intimate partners.

Moreover, according to a survey, Pakistan was ranked as the third most dangerous country in the world for women’s safety and domestic violence. Most of the victims of domestic violence have no legal recourse. Therefore, the violence against women is rapidly increasing and becoming worsened by each passing day.

All women citizens deserve a life free of intimidation, harassment and molestation. Domestic violence should not be taken lightly. Women should be assured a safe life.
