Are our celebrities’ children destined for stardom too?

Author: Zaresh Ernest

It is common for a doctor’s child to land into the same field. Many children like to walk in the footsteps of their parents. A career choice becomes far more predictable especially when the parents have been a prominent contributor to a certain professional field. We see a lot of actors giving birth to more actors. Their children make it into the field of acting, following the same path. Years of watching their father sing or perform on television, or to watch their mother acting in a number of films or dramas, watching their parents onscreen can often lead a child to daydream of the same career. A celebrity child has seen it all. They understand the work commitment and the challenging work conditions and timings. A celebrity kid grows around the limelight and a lot of cameras. Without enrolling into acting schools, a celebrity kid has a better study and understanding of the technicalities of singing and acting, depending on what their parents did on screen for a living.

Shaan Shahid is a father of four beautiful daughters, he has seen more than two decades of the struggling Pakistani cinema with an experience of 500 films. Will acting be a career choice for any of his daughters? Being the pioneer of Pakistani film industry, Shaan Shahid has seen worse conditions and limited work resources. He has even lived through some very hideous scripts that had no head and tail. He survived through the most crucial years of cinema. Once the Pakistani film industry advanced with equipment and intelligent scripts, Shaan easily blended into the new style of cinema as the actor clearly understood the ingredients of a good film. Whether his children run into the father’s footsteps, we still have to wait and see.

Fawad Khan is a proud father of two. Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor also have a son and a daughter. Ahmed Ali Butt and Fatima Khan are parents to an adorable son who looks ready for an acting career with his fancy suits and dark shades. The child has a serious swag going on. Meesha Shafi and guitarist husband Mahmood Rahman are parents to a son and a daughter. Will their kids develop a taste for fine music? Without a doubt, the musical genes of the parents or the acting genes of Meesha Shafi’s mom Saba Hameed will rub off on the children too.

Syed Noor has been such a common name for Pakistani film industry. From production to direction and script writing, the man has given his youth to the industry. He has three daughters and a son from his first marriage to Rukhsana Noor and all his kids are all grown up into young good looking individuals, with a vast range of career choices available to them. Soon enough, we will see if any of his children chose to follow the footsteps of Syed Noor. We certainly hope that the ancestors of the TV and film industry will see better days. We also hope to see an improved and upgraded Lollywood in days to come.

Frieha Altaf is another famous socialite personality who has lived all her life in front and behind the camera, bringing to us the most extravagant award shows, catwalks and onscreen projects. The proud mother of two, a young son and a daughter, runs round the clock arranging the most elite functions in the country. Frieha Altaf has been part of many onscreen projects and even films. More recently we saw Frieha in the cameo ‘Lahore Se Agey’ and in Javed Sheikh’s ‘Wajood’, she also became a part of Saqib Malik’s debut film ‘Baaji’ which is still to be released. Frieha’s daughter Parisheh, who is all grown up now will be seen in Asim Raza’s ‘Parey Hut Love’ with her mom and an extensive cream cast. Her debut appearance in Asim’s film will certainly open new doors of opportunity and maybe kick start a career for young Parisheh.

Atif Aslam and Sara are parents to a beautiful son. Wouldn’t it be awesome if the child grows up to be as famous as the father? Atif has honoured Pakistan with his work. His voice represents Pakistan in every corner of the world. In the past 10 years, Atif’s voice became a need of the industry. We so hope that his offspring can reflect the same charisma and devotion in days to come. Star kids from-the coming generation is our ray of hope for a better media industry, better singers and more importantly, a better Pakistan.

Ali Zafar is a multi-talented artist who fits into enormous moulds and roles. A person like him will always have a career choice-once he gets bored of acting, he is a fine singer and song writer, and his compositions are magical. He is even a great painter and sketches mind blowing portraits in just a few minutes. He can probably even juggle, tap dance and balance a jug of water at the top of his head, who knows? It is all very believable. Zafar’s talents are enough to land him into the Guinness World Record, but did you know that the young actor and singer is also a father of a daughter, Alyza. He recently posted a small video clip of his daughter playing drums, the young child also shares love for music and singing like her father. It is adorable to see Ali’s daughter start so young. We won’t be too amazed if Alyza also became highly skilful and multi-talented like her father. We wish the little drummer best of luck.

Hadiqa Kiani was, when there was no other, she has been singing since PTV days when there wasn’t many female singers around. She was one of a kind and her long over coats and chunky jewels, sleek straight hair and fashionable shoes were all very refreshing-she stood out because of her sense of style too. Kiani’s songs and performances were unique. ‘Bohey Bariyan’ was an over played song on the TV channels that we all loved to sing along to. Hadiqa has always been a pioneer in her respective field. She is also a single mom who adopted Naad-e-Ali as her own son after the 2005 Earthquake. The singer spends most of her time around the child who is growing up to be a handsome boy. Being around a mother who is a famous singer, the young boy has now tasted a fair share of limelight. Will Naad-e-Ali sing like mama or would he rather choose a life away from it all? Time will tell.
