ISLAMABAD: A former SHO who was allegedly found involved in extortion of millions of rupees from innocent citizens with the help of two key criminal members of a gang and five employees has not been arrested by the FIA so far.
The SHO was allegedly patronizing the gang of fraudsters by making false promises to innocent and gullible citizens of providing them help in obtaining government contracts. He was assisted by five employees of the police force who were helping him in the criminal acts of extorting money through fraud.
Even though the two key members of the gang have been arrested but the FIA has not taken any action so far against the main culprit – the SHO.
This gang was extorting millions of rupees from unsuspecting innocent citizens promising to help them in obtaining government contracts from the CDA.
These gang members were using the letter pad of the Prime Minister of Pakistan while posing themselves as personal employees of a high ranking government functionary. Well-placed sources told Daily Times, that the group of fraudsters comprising Iftikhar Ali and Asif Chohan was active in depriving innocent citizens of their hard earned money for quite a long time. They were functioning in the federal capital with the connivance of the police.
One of the swindlers, Asif Chohan, used to show himself up as an employee in the Prime Minister’s House while another named Iftikhar Ali posed as a PA to the former interior minister Rehman A Malik.
They used the official letter pad during the entire game of deception and cheating.
The FIA Islamabad zone registered a case against this gang under No 34/2016 in October on the application filed by Raja Nadim Kayani, son of Taj Muhammad, resident of Pandora who was deprived of seven million rupees by this gang. Both of the fraudsters were arrested from the motorway and they are now in Adiala Jail on judicial remand.
In the case it has been said that the main accused Iftikhar Ali and Asif Chohan showed themselves up as personal employees of a top government functionary and extorted Rs 7 million from Raja Nadim Kayani, under the false promise of getting contract of routes, footpath and concrete blocks for him from the CDA through their influence and clout. The applicant said that these two cheaters called him at the police station in the industrial area and they held talks with him there in the presence of some police officers. Later they extorted a sum of Rs 7 million from him through deceit and fraud.
The applicant said that the culprits were fully backed by five police officers and their subordinate staff including an SHO of the federal police who is under a black cloud nowadays. They are also included in this case.
Sources said whenever these fraudsters wanted o cheat any citizen they would ask him to come to the police station at the industrial area. The accused Asif Chohan talked to them while sitting on the chair of the SHO. An official vehicle had been provided to him with full official protocol. Sadly enough no action has so far been initiated against these police officers and their accomplices for looting and plundering innocent citizens of their hard earned money.a
