PESHAWAR: After a much delay and anxious wait, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has got adequate representation in the central cabinet of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) as Chairman Imran Khan included five names form the province.
However, the ideological leaders of PTI termed the move unconstitutional and prime cause of differences among the party workers and leadership. On the direction of Imran Khan, General Secretary of PTI Jehangir Tareen issued notification on Thursday added number of leaders in the central cabinet of the party.
As per the notification, Muhammad Atif Khan was notified as the Additional Secretary General of PTI, Shahram Khan Tarakai and Fazal Khan as Central Vice Presidents of KP, Dr Amjad Ali as the Joint Secretary of KP, and Shaheryar Afridi for the slot of Secretary Internal Security in the central cabinet of the party.
However, apart from Fazal Khan the senior ministers of the KP including Health Minister Shahram Tarakai and Education minister Atif Khan were given representation in the party cabinet.
Speaking to Daily Times former president of the PTI Zafarullah Khattak said that worker folk of the PTI were being ignored in formation process of central, provincial and town cabinets.
Similarly, the founding member of Insaf Youth Wing in KP and former senior vice president Amjad Akbar also rebuked over the notification which appointed ministers as the part of the cabinet and ignored devoted workers, ideological and founding members of the party.
Speaking to this scribe he said that the notification issued by Jehangir Tareen suggested that currently PTI chief Imran Khan has suspended the constitution of the party. “It is an unconstitutional act for a minister in the frame-line of PTI constitution to hold cabinet representation,” he maintained.
The grievances of the workers were increasing with each passing day but provincial and central leadership were devoid of the situation which could have dire consequences for the party reputation and stake in the province he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that due to party workers and representative of the district Peshawar council mounting pressure the cabinet of Town-one resigned. The nomination was made allegedly biased by Arbab Jehandad Khan, district Peshawar president.
