Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Saturday criticised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for criticising the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.

Addressing a press conference, the Railways minister said that the PML-N wanted the removal of NAB chairman from his post in order to stop filing of references against party leaders.

Responding to a question about the leaked audio and video tapes, the minister said: “Leave the audio and videos aside, focus on the corrupt elements.”

“Look at their past, whenever they find themselves trapped, they target institutions,” he said, claiming Shehbaz Sharif was begging for an NRO-like deal to get rid of graft cases.

Sheikh Rasheed said the PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) were responsible for inflation in the country.

Criticising former president Asif Ali Zardari, he said that the PPP co-chairman too wanted to flee the country like Shehbaz Sharif. He said due to a lack of health facilities, AIDS cases had surfaced in Larkana. He demanded the resignation of Sindh health minister.

The railways minister said people had been deceived in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, adding that it was the need of the hour to approach the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Sheikh Rashid said that the Pakistan Railways (PR) would run three Eid special trains from June 2 to facilitate passengers.

He said a tender had been awarded to Railway Constructions Pakistan Limited (RAILCOP) for improvement of Tando Adam railway track.
