Wolves are epitome of a modern-day mid-table team

11 ins, 11 outs — this was Wolves summer transfer business heading into their first Premier League season in a while. Admittedly, a lot of the star-studded Portuguese players they have signed came from the help provided by worldwide super-agent, Jorge Mendez. Finishing 7th, but quite a margin off Manchester United and the rest of the top six, Wolves have become the epitome of a modern-day mid-table Premier League team. Utilising resources available and setting up a scouting network bound to find bargains, are two components which has helped Wolves to their success, and could be very important for teams such as Bournemouth and Everton for the future. The snip of Ruben Neves, who, for only £5.8 million joined the West Midland side, is just a single example of the bargains Wolves have found consistently over the past few years. In a football market where prices are inflated, employing top quality scouts and a Sporting Director, are things which will become the norm for mid-table teams as they look to crack into the Europa League spots. With prices of players becoming overly expensive, extensively searching for bargains, untapped talent and underrated players, will become vital for mid-table teams attempting to progress up the table. Wolves have been ahead of the game — and other mid-table teams may look to join them in becoming a “Modern Day” mid-table team.
