WAPDA win National Women’s Kabaddi Championship

LAHORE: Pakistan WAPDA won the title of the inaugural National Women’s Kabaddi Championship with a comfortable 43-29 points win over Pakistan Army in the final at WAPDA Sports Complex here on Friday. WAPDA put up resolute efforts to outplay Army in all departments of the game in the final stages of the play. Army dazzled with aggressive play to take a good start in the final but their performance faded away when WAPDA bounced back to take control with collective team efforts. As the score was levelled at some stages in early half of the play and WAPDA continued their determined efforts to widen the lead and eventually left behind Army at far distance at points table, winning the match in style with ease and comfort. Punjab secured third position whereas Islamabad stood at 4th position. The three-day championship was organised by the WAPDA Sports Board in collaboration with the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation. As many as seven teams namely WAPDA, Army, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan took part in the competition. Amer Ahmad, Secretary WAPDA, who is also the President WAPDA Sports Board, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.
