LAHORE: Police have allegedly failed to control surge in incident of robberies and street crimes, as authorities are still unable to find any clue about these gangs, who are depriving citizens of their valuables for the last many months.

According to sources, police could not succeed to arrest culprits who looted a family in the broad daylight in Garden Town area in November despite the fact the video footage of the robbery was aired by all news channel.

Whether it is Dolphin Force – equipped with sophisticated weapons and expensive bikes – or the PRU – with luxury cars and other law enforcers patrolling city roads on a daily basis – all units of police force can be seen frisking innocent people while robbers and thieves easily managed to escape after looting citizens.

Few days ago, some unidentified robbers shot dead Professor Rao Altaf in Iqbal Town area, while dacoits gunned down five people in Millat Park area when they tried to resist a robbery attempt. However, police killed four criminals involved in Millat Park tragic incident during an alleged encounter near Ravi River on late Thursday night.

Similarly, a family was looted when they were going to have breakfast in Green Town area, while two dacoits – riding a motorcycle – snatched Rs 1.5 million from a man named Wahab when he was going to a bank on the Band Road.

On the other hand, CIA Civil Lines Division and Kotwali Police have arrested nine criminals including a woman involved in robberies while police recovered more than Rs 7 million and other valuables from them. This was said by SSP Investigation Hassan Mushtaq Skuhera during a press briefing held at Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh on Friday. He added that different police teams were working on these incidents and more culprits would be arrested soon.

He said CIA Civil Lines Police arrested three criminals identified as Kamran alias Tipu, his wife Ghulam Fatima and his brother Muhammad Rizwan. The SSP said that both had confessed to having committed more than 41 incidents of robberies in different bakeries across the city. He said police also recovered Rs 1 million and other valuables from them.

The SSP said that CIA Kotwali Police also arrested six members of a gang involved in house robberies and other heinous crime. Police also recovered over Rs 6 million other valuables from them.

Later, the SSP said that criminals involved in robbery in Garden Town area would be presented in front of media soon.
