Newsgate probe commission gets another month

ISLAMABAD: The government has given another month to the commission probing the news leak scandal. Sources said the interior minister has extended the time until January 10. Earlier, the commission was given a month which completed on December 10.

Sources said that the inquiry commission had recorded statements of people concerned, including Dawn reporter Cyril Almeida who reported the in-camera session. The meeting was attended by Nawaz Sharif, former army chief General (r) Raheel Sharif and former ISI director general Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar. The military leadership had declared the story against national security and demanded independent investigation and action against those responsible to “feed” the news.
