A petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) disqualified leader Jahangir Tareen was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday.

The writ petition, filed by Chaudhry Shoaib Saleem, challenged Tareen’s participation in government meetings.

The petition stated that Jahangir Tareen had issued orders during official meetings despite being disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The petition alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan had violated the SC’s decision by allowing Tareen to participate in official meetings.

The petitioner requested that the PTI leader be restricted from attending government meetings.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had objected to Jahangir Tareen’s participation in official cabinet meetings.

He asked him not to violate the judicial rules as he had been disqualified by the court, which made him ineligible to attend any official meeting. He further said that Jahangir Tareen should offer his advice by staying in the background as his presence gave opposition a reason to point fingers at them. Jahangir Tareen responded that he always acted on the directives of PM Imran Khan. Prime Minister Imran Khan, however, said that Jahangir Tareen had briefed him on the agricultural sector and due to his experience he had been assigned a task in the agriculture sector.
