Poetry contest held to pay homage to APS martyrs

LAHORE: Twelve literary organisations and a large number of poets participated in a poetry contest at Chopal – Nasir Bagh on Sunday to pay tribute to Army Public School martyrs.

Participants of both the events paid glowing tribute to the martyrs for their sacrifice, and said that the tragedy had united the nation against terrorism and extremism.

“We would not forget this tragic day and the sacrifice of our children,” they said.

They urged the people to come out to save the future of their children by standing up against those who were bent upon destroying the peace of the country.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included former Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) president Jahangir Jhojha, former Supreme Court Bar Association general secretary Raja Zulqarnain, Major (r) Khalid Nasar, Maqsood Chughtai, Prof Nazar Bhinder, Robina Jilani, Perveen Wafa, Akhter Hashmi, Shagufta Ghazal Hashmi, Mazhar Jaffri, Haji Latif Khokhar, Muhammad Naveed Mirza and Shahid Ambroz Mughal.
