NAB to nominate Zardari in Harish and Company case

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to file a supplementary reference in the Harish and Company case, nominating former president Asif Ali Zardari as a suspect, a private TV channel reported. Reports said the PPP supremo will be named as accused person in the reference over his ‘non-cooperation’ with the watchdog vis-à-vis probe into the case.

It is noteworthy that the anti-graft watchdog has already filed the fifth reference involving Harish and Company against the former president and other suspects. Omni Group’s Abdul Ghani Majeed and Sindh Special Initiative Department’s Secretary Ejaz Ahmed have been named key accused in the reference. According to the bureau, Harish and Company was awarded a contract for water supply by the department but it failed to complete the project and the public funds were allegedly used to meet the expense of the Naudero House. Zardari appeared before a NAB team in the Harish and Company and Opal Properties cases on Thursday. Farooq H Naek, the former president’s lawyer, says his client has nothing to do with the Harish and Company and that the main reference doesn’t name the PPP co-chairman.
