ISLAMABAD: The ruling PML-N government is in a fix over the Panama leaks and Quetta incident inquiry commission report as the opposition said it was not ready to spare the government, even though the NA speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was trying hard to help out the government. Parliamentary sources told Daily Times that on Monday, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq invited all parliamentary leaders at his chamber and requested them to cooperate with him to run the house smoothly.

Due to this, the National Assembly session started on Monday evening over two hours late as the Speaker was consulting with parliamentary leaders of various parties including Naveed Qamar of the PPP, Shah Mehmood Qureshi of PTI, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah of Jamat e Islami and Sheikh Salahuddin of MQM, while the government side was represented by federal ministers Zahid Hamid,Saad Rafiq and Sheikh Aftab, sources said.

Two main opposition parties, PPP and PTI, showed their serious concerns to kill the privilege motion against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by the speaker in His chamber and said it was against the law. They demanded that the speaker reconsider his ruling on this issue. On this, the speaker made clear that he had given his ruling as the Panama matters was subjudice in court.

Opposition parties said that they would raise this issue in the assembly to express their point of view regarding the Panama leaks, privilege motion and Quetta incident inquiry commission report. On this, the government ministers said if the opposition would behave well in the assembly, the government response would be positive and if they would criticise the prime minister, then strong response would be given, sources said. The speaker, after listening to both sides, decided to give point of orders to opposition members so they could raise their issues on the floor of the house.
