Shah Abdul Latif University’s Ghotki campus unveiled

GHOTKI: The old block of Govt. Boys Degree College, Ghotki was formally handed over to the Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur for opening of its new campus.

Prof Dr Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor, SALU received the responsibility in a ceremony held in Ghotki on Monday, which was chaired by PPP’s MNA and former Sindh Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar. Sardar Mahar unveiled the plaque of the building along with the VC to inaugurate the new campus of the SALU.

Speaking on this occasion, Sardar Ali Mahar said, SALU campus was a gift for the people of Ghotki and urged the youth of Ghotki to take the benefit of education from the University to build up their bright future. He appreciated Dr. Parveen and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for putting efforts towards establishing the new campus.

“Education is a weapon against extremism and could provide social justice and equity”, Dr. Parveen Shah said in her speech. She said that HEC had earmarked Rs.10m as seed money and operational cost to start the campus. “Very soon we will be establishing the Shahdadkot Campus,” she added.

Initially, the new campus will be starting with the Departments of English Language & Literature, Business Administration and Computer Science and Information Technology from the first week of March 2017, she announced. Syed Aijaz Ali Shah, Deputy Commissioner, Ghotki, Syed Asghar Ali Shah, Chairman, Municipal Committee, Ghotki. Prof. Dr. Abdul Qadir Chachar, Principal, Govt. Boys Degree College, Ghotki also spoke on the occasion.
