This is the fundamental issue of The Glazer reign — lack of footballing IQ. Herrera wouldn’t be a starting centre-midfielder for a title-winning Premier League team, but, he should comfortably be a regular for a team fighting for 4th. More important than ridding our club of Ander Herrera, was selling Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and other deadwood in our club. But, our owners don’t know this. Herrera’s spot wasn’t a place that needed strengthening or a player who needed replacing this summer. But because the board were unwanting to give him a pay rise, on the low wages he’s being paid, he decided to leave – and rightly so. One thing is clear – until the Glazers depart, Manchester United will find it incredibly difficult to return to their former self.
