Hirronk — a beautiful village in Balochistan

What could be more magical than to experience fun, joy, happiness and beauty in the same place as your abode? Hirronk is such a place where one gets to experience all these things at once.

It is situated 60 kilometres from Turbat city, Balochistan towards the east. It’s rich with scenic picnic spots where families and friends don’t like leaving from.

However, poverty also is a major obstacle in Hirronk’s growth. Children are deprived of education and sell their farmer father’s vegetables to earn livelihoods. But, there is abundance of water that keeps the fields lush and healthy.

The women of Hirronk are known to be excellent tailors. Embroidery is a source of income for them to manage education for their children. Many new designs of embroideries were invented by Hirronk’s women by the use of threads. The women of Hirronk are versatile and don’t just stay home. They help their men out in the fields as well.

These women have the ability to make an entire carpet for their houses and kitchens and even make special home accessories like saft which is used for carrying dates and taking them from one place to another. It’s made tree barks, kapath, glass, gor path; which is a kind of a carpet used for keeping dates dry by the help of sun rays.

The villagers of Hirronk live in peace. They get together in the evenings and play Balochi games like choki which is played between two teams of two players each. Small holes are made like a square shape and in a sequence wise, there are eight small holes in one straight line until its turning point. In the middle of the holes, a stone is placed half inside and half outside. Sachi is a game which is quite popular among children.

Gwather is a beautiful mountainous picnic spot in Hirronk. It’s a stunning sight when water trickles down from the mountains in the form of a waterfall.

There are a lot of date trees around including other kinds. People come here to take pictures owing to its beauty.

My mother once told me that Hirronk’s history is massive. There used to be a tribe called Gichki that wreaked havoc on the residents of Hirronk and subjected them to a lot of injustice and miseries. They used to snatch all their dates despite knowing that its season comes once a year. Whenever the season arrived, the locals hid their dates in the cradles of their babies, but the Gichkis looked for them deeply and took them away.

Moreover, Hirronk is also known the place of educated and knowledgeable people, though it did not get attentions from government like other villages, but their unity successfully made them engineers, doctors and even in many other big posts. It is also said by city’s citizens that Hirronk’s people have been rising ahead towards sky by their unstoppable achieving. Likely, Hirronk’s people are the most respectable people, they never say bad words against anyone. Many people have teased them, but they did not tease them back, because they think that if a dog barks on you and you throw stones on that, then there is no difference between you and the dog.

Hirronk has a lot of historical significance. If government invests in it a little more, it has the potential to become one of the most beautiful villages in the world. The lifestyle of its residents surprises many as these people live in harmony and love. Before being religious, they are humane and express solidarity with each other.
