Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Law and Anti-Corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday said that the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had decided to launch a crackdown on corrupt elements in different department of the Sindh government and register cases against the officers involved.
He made the announcement while presiding over a briefing regarding the ACE at his office. ACE Director Fayaz Abbasi gave a detailed briefing on the cases, and added that approval had been accorded to register cases against more than 100 officers of the Education, School Education, Food, Health and Local Government Departments, besides the Board of Revenue. He said the officers were found involved in malpractices and misuse of power.
According to a notification, Murtaza Wahab has instructed the ACE director to accelerate legal action against corrupt elements so that others could learn a lesson. He said that such corrupt officers would be taken to task and removed from the offices. He appreciated the performance of the ACE and said open inquiries should be initiated against those involved in corruption, and that no pressure should be entertained in this regard. He said that corruption was a curse, which damaged the very fabric of society, so everyone should play their role to achieve a corruption-free society. Fayaz Abbasi, while briefing the adviser, said that concrete evidences of embalmment had been collected against those officers, as they had crossed their authorities.
