LAHORE: The Punjab Aids Control Programme (PACP) has started training of healthcare providers on HIV/AIDS case detection, treatment and counselling across the province.
According to details, the PACP Thursday conducted trainings of technical staff at District Headquarters Hospital Gujranwala, engaging healthcare providers. Two days earlier, similar training was conducted at District Headquarters Hospital Kasur.
The training session are being organised for professional staff providing healthcare services at district and tehsil level. Staff from healthcare establishments, including medical superintendents, surgical specialists, paediatricians, pathologists, gynaecologists and nursing staff attended the training session.
Technical sessions covered areas like overview of HIV infection, epidemiology of HIV, transmission dynamics, transmission from mother to children, post-exposure profile access and referral mechanism.
