Police seize liquor worth Rs 1.5bn from a house

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have seized incredibly large cache of liquor worth of Rs 1.5 billion from a house, as the stock was owned by notorious bootlegger of the city Amir Malik.

The police evaluated the price to Rs 400 million only, which was loaded in eight trucks as it is reluctant to show the original value and volume of the liquor seized during the operation.

Police also arrested three people named Imran, Bashir and Abdul Aziz, besides police also recovered a vehicle that was bearing the number plate of a foreign embassy. The interrogation is under way with the held accused.

On tip off a police team under the supervision of SP (Sadar Zone) Zeeshan Haider raided a house, located at posh sector of Islamabad F-11/4 and recovered imported whisky and beer, which was being supplied to different vicinities of the twin cities since long, the sources in police department said.

The police told this scribe that the house was in the possession of a woman namely Anila who was working at a foreign embassy as computer operator.

The sources said that the disreputable wine dealer of Islamabad Amir Malik, who got permit of the business by showing his two personal servants as non-Muslim(Qadyanis), who were actually Muslims. Though there are different cases registered against Amir Malik in several police stations as well in the Customs but he is so much influential that no action was taken against him so far.

The Investigation Officer of Police Station Shalimar,ASI Ihsan Ullah has confirmed that heavy stock of wine was recovered but he refused to tell the details of the operation.

When this scribe tried to contact SP Zeeshan Haider and DSP Ghulam Muhammad Baqir to know their point of view, but they both did not pick the phone.
