KARACHI: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who has been allotted the portfolio of Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Stevta), Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem, is trying to re-induct retired officer of the authority on “Honorary Capacity’, Daily Times has learnt. S Nazar Ali Shah, Director Administration Stevta, got retired in May 2016 after attaining the age of 60 years.

After passage of only six months, the retired officer had met the Special Assistant, who is also Vice Chairman of Stevta. Shahid Thaaeem asked the retired officer to prepare his own summary for further perusal, insiders told Daily Times.

According to sources, the retired officer prepared a summary and handed it over to Shahid Thaheem that was later forwarded to Stevta authorities for further action. As per the summary, the Stevta will not pay any salary if he is inducted, however he will get official vehicle, fuel and TA/DA for his official trips.

“The Stevta authorities forwarded the summary to his administrative secretary Navid Ahmed Shaikh who rejected the summary by raising a number of queries”, sources added.

“The Stevta is not a welfare foundation and how come a retired officer wants to work on honorary basis. If he (Nazar Ali) wants to work to please Allah, the Almighty, he should join some welfare organization working in the city”, sources quoted Secretary Navid Ahmed Shaikh as saying.

Moreover, sources said that Stevta vice-chairman has once again forwarded the summary directly to Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah bypassing the administrative secretary of the authority. When contacted, Stevta vice-chairman Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem told Daily Times that he has not forwarded any summary for induction of a retired officer in the authority on honorary capacity. “Why would I support induction of retired employees”, he questioned.
