Social media revolutionary does it again

Pakistani star Hamza Ali Abbasi criticised National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) decision to accept former Balochistan finance secretary’s plea bargain request for Rs 2 billion.

The Waar star vented out his anger and as usual took to social media to express his grievances. He said, “Dear Chairman NAB, I am planning corruption of around 50 Crores. Could you please calculate and let me know my plea bargain amount so that I know how much would I exactly save? Thanks in advance for your corruption and friendly services. Regards, a Pakistani.”

Abbasi, who gained stardom by acting in movies such as ‘Waar’ and ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’, has never shied away from giving statements on national issues. His criticism, much of which is derived from his ‘political idol’ Imran Khan, is often taken by his opponents as a publicity stunt.

Hamza Ali Abbasi is the son of PPP leader Begum Nasim Akhtar Chaudhry, but has no experience in politics himself, though that has never stopped the actor to hold back from sharing his opinion on any political issue.

Many criticise the actor for corrupting the country’s image to the rest of the world by saying such things on social media, encouraging youth to do the same. Many comments on his posts urge the actor to stop behaving this way and focus on his acting career. Some even come out and claim that Abbasi is just ‘hungry’ for publicity.

Earlier, NAB conducted a raid at Raisani’s residence, which resulted in the arrest of the former minister. The raid recovered Rs 730 million in cash from his house.

The bureau put former minister’s corruption figure at Rs 40 billion, but a meeting of NAB’s executive board accepted his plea bargain and directed the former finance secretary to submit a fine of Rs 2 billion.
