Mehran Sugar Mills CEO Mohammed Ebrahim Hasham attended the event as the chief guest. Also present on the occasion were UIT Director Dr Zahir A Syed and others from the institute’s top management. Students and academics of UIT and other technology institutes were also present at the event in large numbers. The daylong event was inaugurated by Dr Zahir A Syed, followed by a welcome speech by Mohammed Ebrahim Hasham.

The activities that ensued included three workshops on app, game and web development, five competitions about programming, innovation, ethics and video games, and two seminars on cybersecurity and engineering projects & community service. All activities were moderated by the leaders in their respective industries.

“We are proud to have organized the AKSC ’16 from UIT’s powerful platform,” said Hasham. “At the Usman Institute of Technology, we not only aim for academic excellence, but also provide students and academics with opportunities to engage in activities that promote innovation, technology, and a healthy competition in the country. I thank all participants for being here today and making the AKSC ’16 a huge success,” he added.

“With AKSC ’16, we continue our tradition of providing youth of Pakistan with opportunities to showcase their abilities and enhance their knowledge base and skills,” said Dr Zahir A Syed. “We believe that classroom instruction is only a part of an education while real learning comes from the outside world with events like today’s Student Congress making a huge impact on a person’s knowledge. We at Usman Institute of Technology will continue this trend by creating more opportunities for students, instructors, and entrepreneurs to mingle, network, and share industry knowledge,” he added.

The Usman Institute of Technology organises different seminars and conferences. There are two international societies currently working for the grooming of future engineers and scientists. These two international societies include IEEE UIT Student Branch, and the Association for Computing Machinery.
