LAHORE: Pakistan’s Muhammad Awais won a bronze medal in the 18th Asian Cadet Junior and Under-21 Karate Championship in Malaysia on Sunday. “Awais showcased a great performance to secure bronze for Pakistan in -75kg (under-21class) held at Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. The Pakistan Karate Federation congratulates Awais for his brilliant performance and is hopeful that he will bring more laurels for the country in years to come,” said a spokesman for the PKF yesterday. It is pertinent to mention that due to paucity of funds, Pakistan managed to send only two players in the event without any official or coach. The PKF and the players managed the funds for participation from their personal efforts. “The PKF will keep on its efforts to promote and develop karate in Pakistan to secure laurels at international arenas,” added the spokesman.
