Another act of negligence kills a child

KARACHI: Saba, an eight-year-old died after being injected with the wrong injection here at a local clinic on Sunday.

This happened for the second time within a span of two-weeks after Nashwa a 9 month old infant died due to medical negligence.

Zafar Iqbal, Saba’s father, told a private source that she was brought to a clinic in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Block 13-D. A man claiming to be a doctor gave her an injection for cough and flu which took away her life within few minutes. He added that as soon as the child was injected, foam began to form in her mouth causing her death.

“Seeing her condition, the [doctor] named Adnan told us to rush to another hospital. But she died [before that],” he said.

As a result of a report to the police, Adnan was arrested.

However, the police said that the FIR against the clinic would be registered only after receiving the post-mortem report.

But the medico-legal doctor refused to work on the post-mortem report because of the weekend, leaving the corpse unattended for a whole day.

As the news went viral, the doctor-on-duty finally gave in to the pressure and agreed to conduct the  post mortem report.
