Mother’s Day is just around the corner. When the day arrives, it is always a struggle to generate perfect gift ideas. Settling with a bouquet of flowers and a teddy bear is eventually our last resort. Why not pre-plan the gift a little for the most important person in our life? Every mother is important to their child and every child likes to claim that their mother is the best. World leaders, celebrities and even a common man is seen paying tribute to the love of a mother. The upbringing of a mother determines the success of her children. On any big or small achievement, your mother has the widest smile, the loudest clap and the most pride! No doubt moms should be celebrated every single day of our lives. For a special mom like this, there should be a special gift and a thoughtful one too – most preferably something that she can use later too. Let us walk you through some ideas on what to get your mother this Mother’s Day, which falls on May 12, 2019.

ALL THINGS ORGANIC — bed covers, cushions and flower vases can be great, but introducing a little personal touch to things can add more meaning to it. A mother would treasure a handmade card over a digital one. A bouquet of flowers would be amazing, but her favourite indoor plant would be awesome. A decorative wall frame would be great too, but a framed picture of you and your momma, with a little handwritten note on the side can make a perfect gift that she can add to her bedside table. Adding a personal touch to gifts definitely adds value and makes things way more special for a mom. Moms love it when you add those details that make her feel that you made time to prepare something for her.

BAKE A CAKE & SING A SONG — writing a poem and composing a song may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we can arrange a little evening with mama dear, make a list of her favourite songs or arrange for some karaoke fun. Get the family together to make your mother feel warm around her children. If your mother is already a grandmother, then having her grandchildren come and make some noise might be her favourite thing. Bake an under budget, bright cake for her, add some fun games to engage the whole family away from their mobile phones and do not forget to take a lot of pictures!

PAINT A MASTER PIECE — bring out the artist in you by creating a fun gift. Paint your mother’s portrait or kiss away an empty white canvas to create a masterpiece like Alexis Fraser. You can even add colourful flowers to her picture frame. Even if you’re sketching and painting isn’t very great, your mama will still admire the effort.

HUGS & MUGS — and who doesn’t like a good cup of coffee or tea? Our desi moms love hot drinks, so mugs are an everyday need. Get a white mug and engrave a beautiful message on top with a permanent marker. You can even get a digital picture print of you and mama on the same mug. Customise a mug which will everyday remind her of her favourite child.

GOODIE GOOD BASKET — you need to know what your mother likes when you go shopping for this. Have a basket full of her favourite beauty products, jars of her favourite cake, candies, candles, a mini perfume, books or magazines and maybe a kurta from her favourite brand. Artistically place all these in a basket. Powder some glitter flakes and trimmings and knot a big bow on top of the basket for some final touches.

COLLAGE & PRESERVE MEMORIES — since we have a lot of old family albums lying away, sealed since a decade, we hardly ever go back to those hard copies. Sort out old albums, take the best ones out and paste them on to a large or medium canvas of wooden frame. Add fun stickers and snippets to the project to make it more bright and fun!
