ISLAMABAD: Naheed Khan, the close aide and political secretary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has said that Benazir’s spirit would be upset if she saw the current leadership of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

According to media reports, Naheed said that Benazir was a national leader who had rendered tremendous sacrifices for strengthening democracy in the country. She added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had promised to arrest the killers of Benazir but had not done anything about it.

She said security agencies had informed Benazir Bhutto about threats to her life. The former political secretary of the daughter of the east said, “A brave leader never fears from death. BB shaheed often used to say that one should live their life like a tiger rather than a jackal.”
Answering a question about the will of Benazir Bhutto, Naheed said she cannot say anything about the veracity of the will. She added, “I will only say that BB’s spirit would have become upset to see in whose hands her party is now.”

Regarding the arrest of the murderers of Benazir, she said that the PPP came into power but the rulers focused their attention on other things rather than apprehending her killers. She added, “I believe her killers will be apprehended one day at every cost.”

She demanded the government to announce a public holiday on December 27 in connection with the death anniversary of Benazir.
