‘The Wadere ka beta’ singer, Ali Gul Pir has released a new song called,’ Sorry, I wasn’t enough’ in collaboration with Lenny Massey, dedicating the song to children from broken homes. The song lyrics addresses fathers who abandoned their families for a new relationship. The song is a child’s cry to his father who did not care how his rejection might impact the child. ‘I’m sorry that I was not enough’ are words of a child who blames himself for the arguments between the parents, ultimately resulting in a gruesome divorce. The lyrics to this rap are deep and painful, especially for the people who have been in the same shoes.
There are many examples of such men, who leave their wives for younger women- they start a new family, abandoning the old. The divorce rate in the country is now touching new heights.
The song video shows Massey on the Piano while Ali Gul Pir is seen standing next him, rapping the English poem. It seems as if the lyrics are directed towards his own father- comprehending all the pain he had to go through as a child.
The rapper shared the video on his Twitter account with a caption that said:
“Coming from a divorced family, I always felt shame. I guess I felt like it was my fault. No kid whose parents or parent has abandoned them should feel that. This is a spoken word I wrote for all such kids.”
There is certainly a lot of mental turmoil a child goes through over a bitter divorce, especially when the child feels abandoned by the father or vice versa. The video also comes with messages that children should not blame themselves for their parent’s divorce.
