A night to remember at the historic Mohatta Palace

I always mention to people how Lahore’s Fort should be commercialised in a way that it gets cleaned up and the authorities of the Walled City allow events to take place there. If the historic and spellbinding Mohatta Palace of Karachi can do that, so can Lahore.

Speaking of Mohatta Palace, a fun filled night was held on Tuesday when renowned singer Uzair Jaswal of ‘Coke Studio’ game, got on stage for a memorable performance on some of his most noteworthy, hit and popular tracks, like “Tere bin” and “Sajna”. The young musician also performed on famous Bryan Adams’ tracks, engaging the audience and embracing the summer night with enthusiasm.

Actors Nabeel Zuberi and Iqra Aziz were also in attendance, adding glamour and spark to the night’s festive atmosphere. The very beautiful and immensely talented former supermodel and now host and anchor Natasha AKA Natty conducted the event in her usual fun and engaging manner.

A part of the Mohatta Palace’s premises were illuminated with pink lights that shone bright for the audience and spellbound us all.

The Mohatta Palace which is now treated as a museum as well, was built in the posh seaside locale of Clifton by Shivratan Chandraratan Mohatta, a Hindu Marwari businessman from modern day Rajasthan in India, in 1927, as his summer home.

The architect of the palace was Agha Ahmed Hussain.

However, Mohatta could enjoy this building for only about two decades before Independence, after which he left Karachi for India. He built the palace in the tradition of stone palaces in Rajasthan, using pink Jodhpur stone in combination with the local yellow stone from Gizri. The amalgam gave the palace a distinctive presence in an elegant neighbourhood, characterised by Indo-Saracenic architecture which was located not far from the sea.

Telephone brand Oppo launched their newest mobile phone the F11 Pro, ranging between Rs 39,999 to Rs 54,999. The F11 will be available for purchase from Saturday, whereas the F11 Pro went in the markets from last Saturday.

The grand launch event was a breathtaking view, with a mesmerising light show and low light décor. It featured an exhibition of pictures shot through the phone by known photographers Ashna Khan, Rehan Qazi and Seemab Saqib.

Other than the stellar front row, the event was also attended by different lifestyle and tech bloggers, nationwide media and partners of the brand.

The event was followed by a lavish dinner at the Mohatta Palace’s lawns.
