The capital police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 195 outlaws during the last week and recovered looted items worth more than Rs 13.3 million from them, including cars and motorcycles.
A police spokesman said that all field staff had been directed to accelerate efforts against anti-social elements and ensure their arrest. Owing these efforts, 33 robbery cases were traced and 39 persons arrested, besides recovery of looted items worth 11.7 million, including gold ornaments, cars and bikes, he said, adding that the police also arrested 35 absconders during the same period.
Moreover, the law enforcers arrested 31 people for their alleged involvement in bootlegging and drug peddling activities, while 6.515 kilogrammes of hashish, 1.235 grammes of heroin and 361 wine bottles were recovered from them, said the spokesman.
He said the police also arrested12 persons for having illegal weapons and recovered 12 pistols and 82 rounds from them.
As many as 29 cases of snatching and burglary were registered during the past week, while 78 persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in 44 crime cases of various natures.
Three cases regarding child abuse were registered, while 11 cases of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping were also registered during the same period.
Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed said that criminal elements would not be spared and those involved in such acts would have to face action as per law.
He also urged the citizens to cooperate with the law enforcer for curbing activities of such elements.
