Seven designers dazzle on the second day of Showcase ‘19

The second day of Pantene Hum Showcase 2019 saw a lot of stellar showstoppers, celebrity F-Row sightings and powerful summer collections.

HSY — fashion guru Hassan Sheheryar Yasin showcased his collection titled HSY Active. Based in black and grey, the collection opened doors to summer wear for both men and wear. Colours that could have looked boring were meticulously fused with tunics, short kurtas, tights, long cotton shirts and light jackets. Very wearable and summery. Actors Ahmad Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha showstopped for the designer, clad in black. The collection sans prints, embroidery or embellishments, made a statement and held its own.

HUSSAIN REHAR — this young designer who always impresses with his eclectic designs, one-tone outfits, stylish cuts and youthful collections, displayed his H2O collection, which seemed inspired by the water conservation topic. The accessories used also signified the same. Matching separates, his signature quirky twist to modern fashion, organza jackets, painted tops and pants, striking pink pants and long shirts were the highlights. Silk front open shirts paired with white pants made heads turn. As much as the collection was distinct, trendy and hip, one wonders if we’d like carrying around blazers and bags with water conservation tags all over us.

NEELO ALLAWALA — the collection titled Eclectic, was based in pastel and light shades mainly with cotton jackets, organza wraps and tasseled poncho tops. The designer experimented with off beat cuts and fingers crossed if it’ll be her market’s summer this season. Actress Sarwat Gilani showstopped for the designer wearing a cream pastel dress with heavy embellishments at the front.

MONA IMRAN — next up was this Karachi-based designer with her collection titled Bejewelled. The collection was based in a variety of one-tone colour palette. Sleeveless blouses paired with bell bottoms, organza ponchos, red ruffled sleeves mini dresses, red embroidered jumpsuits, statement chandi jewellery and evening wear maxis defined the designs. Actress Neelam Munir wearing red chiffon ball gown with a gold waist belt showstopped for the designer.

U&I BY UMER & IMRANA — one of the best collections of the night, Living Traditions was all about embracing the season with comfort and style. What I particularly liked was the perfection in the stitching, the subtlety in the colours and practicality in its approach. There was no drama. The collection meant business and reached out to masses with its soft embroidered kurtas, funky bags, straight pants, cotton men’s waistcoats, printed shalwars paired with plain shirts and lots of V-neck tops.

OUTFITTERS — next up was Outfitters with their collection titled Conversations. Cotton button down white printed shirts for men, khaki jumpsuits, pink cotton loose pants paired with blue summer tops, knee length cotton dresses and denims with black hoodies were some of our favourite outfits from the collection.

MAHGUL — this young designer’s collection titled Between Ebony & Ivory was the last to be showcased. Sequined straight pink kurtas, white loose shirts paired with green embellished cigarrette pants, cream coloured shararas with embroidered kurtas, voluminous saris and orange shalwars to go with white kurtas caught our eye. Printed beach dresses, black low back evening dresses, black low back shirts with white pants printed at the borders, grey pants with kurtas and white silk saris were beautiful. So basically, it was a collection that catered to traditional wear lovers as well as the modern and western wear shoppers. Mahgul seemed to have poured her heart out with this, featuring embroidered kaftans and lightly embellished eastern formal wear.
