VC SMBBMU fires Registrar in pursuance of SC order

The Vice Chancellor Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, Prof Dr Aneela Atta Ur Rahman, has finally fired (relieved) Registrar Dr. Afsar Ali Bhutto, today on Friday. In an office order issued by the Additional Registrar Dr. Shahida Magsi, in pursuance of para 144 of the judgment of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Crl Original Petition No: 89/2011-NAB advisory under section 33 (C) of NAB Ordinance 1999- and consequent to unsatisfactory performance by Dr. Afsar Ali Bhutto, retired associate professor of Chandka Medical College, Larkana, working as Registrar SMBBMU (on interim arrangement) is hereby relieved from the post of Registrar with immediate effect. In another order issued by VC herself Dr. Shahid Magsi, professor of Gynae/Obs (BPS-21) has been posted to work as Registrar till new selection is made.

Meanwhile, Dr. Afsar Bhutto sent his resignation to Sindh Chief Minister through Secretary Universities mentioning date of 18th April, 2019. In his letter, Dr. Bhutto alleged in the resignation letter that since the management of SMBBMU is working against the interest and business of institution, being run as private commercial company, he had sent four such letters in this regard. He further alleged that a group of officers have bent upon to ruin the institution so he cannot continue his services and therefore tendered his resignation.

In 2016, Sindh High Court had ordered to appoint new registrar but this direction was daringly violated and no new registrar was appointed to replace a retired person who was enjoying top level political backing. Dr. Bhutto was appointed for two months but he continued on the post till his resignation.

In addition, it has been found that Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Naundero, the constituency of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PPP Women Wing President Faryal Talpur, has been without electricity since over a month. It was revealed during annual examination held here on Friday of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) during which one girl fainted due to hot weather.

Principal of the School Nausheen Khokhar told newsmen that she had informed the District Education Officer and the SEPCO SDO Naundero as to why the pole mounted transformer has been removed due which electricity supply to the school was suspended for over a month. She said, I had also requested for providing supply from alternate transformer but nothing has been done so far and all the girls have appeared in their annual exams from VI to XII without electricity in this age of solar power.

Meanwhile, usage of unfair means also continued in entire jurisdiction of BISE Larkana. The candidates used menace of cheating practices even in the paper which was in their mother tongue as 217 copy and 58 impersonation cases were found in Sindhi Compulsory Paper-II by various teams throughout the limits of Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Larkana Division and part of Dadu district here on Friday. According to BISE report, 48 cheating cases in Larkana, 64 in Kambar-Shahdadkot, one in Shikarpur, 39 in Jacobabad, 51 in Kashmore and 14 in Dadu.
