First ever sports gala inaugurated in merged tribal areas

First ever colorful sports gala 2019 in merged tribal districts was inaugurated here at sports complex, Jamrud. The event was organized under the auspices of directorate of sports merged areas.

On the opening session of the event, besides the senior provincial minister for sports and culture Muhammad Atif as chief guest, director sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junaid Khan, director sports merged areas Muhammad Nawaz Khan, deputy commissioner, Khyber district Mehmood Aslam and large numbers of sports lovers were among the attendants.

Player of different teams, dressed in color sports kits, saluted the chief guest while passing in front of dais. Scouts presented traditional dance that enthralled the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Atif Khan said that purpose of arranging of the games is to give message to the world that peace has been restored in merged areas. He maintained that on the direction of the Prime Minister Imran Khan, the incumbent government of KP would adopt all necessary measures to make the merged tribal districts develop.

The games and competitions will continue for seven days and more than 3,000 players of 13 sports teams of ex-tribal regions of Khyber, Mohmand, Kurrum, North Wazirestan, South Wazirestan, Bajaur and Aurakzai and sub- divisions of Peshawar, Kohat, Tank, Lakki,Bannu and D.I Khan will compete in 27 games. Women players will also take part in five games.
