KP govt likely to sign agreement with China: Ghani

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government is likely to sign agreement with China for the much anticipated fast railway track project, along with an electricity generation and Gilglit-Chakdara and Dir-Chitral roads projects

This was revealed by provincial spokesman Mushtaq Ghani during a news conference at press club on Wednesday.

Ghani said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak on visit to China for attending Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He informed that KP Government is going to sign agreement with Government of China for 1200 MW hydel power generation, fast railway track between Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsada Mardan and Swabi districts and construction of Gilgit Chakdarra and Dir Chitral roads.

When asked about another much anticipated mass transit bus project, the spokesman has replied that the initial work on this important project, has been initiated, which would be completed by end of 2018. He, however, said that the government has planned to run buses between Peshawar-Hayatabad to Chamkani, besides a separate bus service for women in Peshawar and Abbotabad.

Responding another question regarding government efforts toward attracting foreign investment in the province, he answered that with the signing of agreement with government of China, would give boost to foreign investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said government is also providing all kind of facilities and incentives to investors under one-window operation in the province.

While commenting on provincial government last six month performance, Mr Ghani said that a sum of Rs.505billion had allocated for financial year 2016-17, out of which Rs 276.114 billion had so far released, which almost Rs 167.804 consumed by 61 per cent.

Ghani said the KP Government under vision of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan, had taken initiatives to provide maximum relief to poor people of the province. He said it was made record legislation during last three and half year, as it was almost done 135 legislations, prominently among them, conflict of interest Act, whistleblower Act and legislation against the interest-based business in the province.
