Sir: Former ruling parties PPP and PML(N) leaders continue to harp on theme of dubbing NAB as draconian black law and calling for its being amended or scrapped altogether.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was established in November 1999 constitutionally as an independent and autonomous body.
It is pertinent to mention that both the former ruling parties have been in power one after the other during ten years from 2008 to 2018 but did nothing to what they are now calling for scrapping the black law of NAB.
For the last few months or so, NAB has accelerated its working and is coming up with cases against leaders of former ruling parties as well as against federal and provincial ministers and functionaries throughout the country.
Opposition parties and their leaders are crying hoarse against the NAB saying that the present government is doing all this out of political vengeance though Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly said that the PTI government has nothing to do with their cases as the NAB is an autonomous body and not under the federal government as such.
If the hands of PPP and PML(N) leaders are all that neat and clean and they apparently have not committed any corruption as such, then they need not be afraid of the NAB in manner. The superior courts are there to hear their grievances and providing them relief in genuine cases instead of blaming the NAB of political engineering or accusing the prime minister of indulging in political victimization and vengeance.
