IAC’s theatre society kicks off with a comedy, ‘Rail-Away Station’:

Institute for Art and Culture (IAC), on Wednesday, launched its theatre society with an impressive performance of the humorous play “Rail-Away Station” at IAC auditorium.

Written and directed by theatre activist, Asst Prof Mobeen Ejaz, the play was a situational comedy and revealed the encounters faced by a girl passenger at a railway station.

The girl had missed her train on the Dhansupura Railway Station and was forced to spend the night at a not-so-busy railway station as the next train was late.

IAC’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sajida Haider Vandal; Pro Vice-Chancellor, Pervaiz Vandal; Professor Zafar Iqbal and Professor Shahid Nadeem attended the performance and encouraged the young team.

Other faculty members and enthusiastic students were also present. While sharing details of the inaugural theatre performance, the director briefed that the students had worked passionately for their first live performance.

The cast included students belonging to different schools of IAC. He added that all members had shown great dedication and put their efforts in exemplary teamwork, which had resulted in a memorable performance.

The IAC theatre society would spread its wings in future by the production of new plays and through participation in different festivals, Mobeen maintained.

In a similar development, IAC’s music society “SAROD” had arranged a

melodious performance entitled “Khalis Makhan/ Peera Ho” for the projection of Pakistan’s rich cultural music and to encourage the aspiring singers.

The half-hour presentation was a beautiful rendition of folk and Sufi mash up, which was conducted and directed by Tehseen Wajahat Chisti.
