Panamagate a test case for new CJP

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that Panama leaks case will be the first test case for the new chief justice of Pakistan (CJP), and if he is successful in bringing the corrupt elite and the plunderers into the dock and retrieving the looted wealth, the nation will be greatly indebted to him for this historic decision. Addressing a press conference at Mansoora on Friday, the JI chief said that the nation had high expectations from the new CJP, and wanted to see him decide all cases without yielding to any pressure. He said that the nation also had high hopes from the outgoing CJP, but the learned judge had announced much earlier that the Panamagate case would be decided by his successor. He said that the military courts had been set up for a limited period and the country could not afford a parallel judicial system for an indefinite period. He said that if military courts were the panacea, civil courts should be closed.
