MIRPUR KHAS: With a sudden fall in temperature, especially during nights, people in Mirpur Khas have started enjoying seasonal food like chicken corn soup, Kashmiri tea, fried fish, Doodh Jalebi, Gajrela, samosa, pakora, vegetable rolls, hot coffee and many other items. As the mercury is dropping continuously that becomes icy in the nights, the demand for chicken corn soup in particular has increased manifold. The demand of fish has also increased and fish outlets in different areas of the District are seen crowded with customers. To meet the growing demand, scores of temporary stalls have been set up by the vendors to treat the customers with winter delicacies. Men, women and children visit these make-shift outlets to beat the cold with the flavour of fried fish, which has become a favorite dish for the customers of all ages. With its rising demand, street vendors can also be seen selling raw fish on handcarts, bicycles and at makeshift stalls at the rate of Rs 300 to Rs 800 per kg. These stalls are doing good business due to ever-increasing customers, the owners of the shops said. “Kashmiri tea is also high in demand these days. “I prepare two drums of tea and those are sold out like hot cake,” a vendor at a market said. Gajrela (carrot sweet) is also considered as one of the desirable dessert prepared with carrots, condensed milk and a load of dry fruits, the delicious dessert are not only a source of energy but also adds color and taste to the meal.
