The loan-system has long been implemented in football, but now, it’s becoming a trend, which most teams are following.
With Arsenal’s loan signing of Denis Suarez, in which an option-to-buy clause was implemented, Premier League clubs have begun using this method before spending lump sums of money.
This ensures that the club can settle in the player, whilst ensuring he’s a good fit for the club and the style of play the manager wants to implement – so it’s virtually a trial period.
While Europe’s mega clubs will no doubt remain spending clubs, the loan system has started, and will, become the most effective way to sign players – especially, if there is an option-to-buy clause inserted in the contract.
Some big clubs – who have small spending owners have also begun using this system, which indicates it’s only going to continue growing in the foreseeable future.
