Koral police arrest ‘gamblers’ in raid

ISLAMABAD: The Koral Police have booked some sixteen persons allegedly involved in gambling worth millions of rupees were bet money over cocks fight during an operation.

According to details, on tip off, the Koral Police have raided the residence of Noni Malik, a notorious gambler where gambling was going on. The police took six fighting cocks into custody. Javed and Akhtar Hayat were among the booked gamblers, both are stated notorious of their areas. The police have severely tortured them.

Sources in this regard said that First Information Report (FIR) of the case has not been lodged till late night while police have demanded some Rs 40,000 each for the release. Station House Officer (SHO) Koral when contacted, he was in his village after assuming his duty while Duty Officer Abdul Hameed has expressed his complete ignorance about the raid on gambling point and apprehension of suspects which is the clear evidence of deal between police and gamblers. “Gambling worth millions of rupees was on at the residence of Noni Malik while local police receives monthly extortion from this gambling point”, sources added.

Daily Times, when contacted SSP Mirwaiz, he expressed ignorance from this case and said that bribery would never be tolerated at any cost adding that stern action would be taken against the police personnel if found guilty.
