Rawalpindi mayor, deputy mayor take oath

RAWALPINDI: PML-N Metropolitan President and former MPA Sardar Nasim Khan and Chaudhry Tariq Mehmood have take oath as mayor and deputy mayor Rawalpindi respectively.

The oath taking ceremony was held in Rawalpindi Arts Council (ARC) on Saturday. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nazia Parveen Sudhan administered them oath of their offices. This way Sardar Naseem has become 5th mayor of Rawalpindi.

Sardar Nasim declared that removal of encroachments from Rawalpindi city and addressing traffic problems would be his basic agenda. DCO Rawalpindi Talat Mehmood Gondal, CPO Rawalpindi Israr Abbasi, Mayor Islamabad, chairman Metro Bus Project Hanif Abbasi, MNA, Malik Ibrar, senator Najma Hamid, MPA Tehsin Fawad, Zaib un Nisa Awan, Seema Jillani, Lubna Rehman, MNA Tahira Aurang zeb, PML-N leaders Chaudhry Inam Zafar, Dr Jamal Nasir, Zia Ullah Shah, Malik Yasir, Hafiz Usman, Chairman Solid Waste management Raja Hanif, Raja Basharat and PML-N workers in large number attended the ceremony.

The second phase of oath taking started. Administrator Rawal Town Nazia Sudhan as presiding officer administered oath to mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Nasim and in the second phase deputy mayor Chaudhry Tariq Mehmood was sworn in. ADC (G) Nazia Sudhan said in her address that nominations of mayor and deputy mayor are manifestation of revival of democracy and public confidence. This has laid responsibility on the elected representatives of people that they should take all possible measures for the betterment of people. They should exercise their powers for elevation of society and uplift of common man.

Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Nasim while talking to media men and political workers after taking oath reiterated his resolve to improve standard of living of people of Rawalpindi. Several uplift projects have been materialized so far in Rawalpindi. Cardiology centre, metro bus project and Shahbaz Sharif park are very important projects among them.
