Billions of rupees spent by PML-N govt for uplift of Rawalpindi alone

ISLAMABAD: Former Member National Assembly of Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Chairman Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service Hanif Abbasi has challenged provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saying that it cannot compete even one city of Punjab, Rawalpindi with entire province of KP in the perspective of development projects.

He was exclusively talking to Daily Times regarding the developmental projects in Rawalpindi.

Hanif Abbasi said during last eight years government of PML-N did a lot for health, education, sewerage, environment and other sectors for Rawalpindi city alone. He said that state of art facility is being provided at Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. This hospital consists of 300 beds and covers the area of 80 kanal land. In the Institution poor are getting treatment free of cost and the rich are paying for their treatment. He said the Gene Filter Clinic is treating 200 to 250 OPD.

He informed that Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation Center, will be consisting of 400 beds, where facilities of kidney and liver transplant will be provided. After, its completion people of North Punjab, KP and AJK will benefit from it.

He said that in 90 days record time over head bridge of half a kilometer on six road has been completed. Earlier, at Chandni Chowk same size overhead bridge took 120 days in completion and due to this experience, six road project took far less time.

Abbasi said Technical Training Institute which was completed at the cost of Rs 7.6 million was providing trade training in 22 professions and skills, in which masons, carpenters, electrician, plumbers and others are included.

He claims that after the establishing Rawalpindi Waste Management Company the cleanness work in city is better than Islamabad. “In a day the staff lifts garbage three times”, he added.

Speaking regarding the sports facilities, Abbasi said that in the city Shahbaz Sharif Sports Complex has been completed, in which indoor facilities of gym exist separately for male and female. There are also facilities of playing table tense, volley ball, basketball, badminton etc.

Abbasi said that four flood lights cricket grounds have also been completed and two synthetic football grounds are near completion in the educational institutions. He said that from two Hockey grounds of astro-turf and one among them is near completion and in others tender has been awarded.

Abbasi claimed that it was world record that Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro road was completed in 14 months. He said that through it average of 130,000 passengers of twin cities are using the transportation facility daily basis. He said that tender of different feeder routes has been awarded through it within two months 80 buses will start services in the city.
